We Can Do It!!!

What an incredible compilation of lacktion!! Damn the haters!!

Now, on to business:

I think Jawai deserves to stay on the team because of the strength with which he started lackting. If we keep him, and add Tony Allen, we're at 11 in the East. We need 12.

With the addition of Chuck Hayes and James Singleton to the West, we have our 12. I'm really excited about Chuck Hayes because of his unbelievably "WTF" free-throws (youtube it, I know you already have).

Now, with Cheikh Samb sitting here in limbo, we could stick him on the East squad and both would have 12 players. Otherwise, I could put Stephon Marbury on the roster. I think, since he's pretty much the posterboy for Basketbawful, he deserves a spot. However, he's something somewhat beyond the status of mere Lacktator. Also, I just filmed a one on one match between him and Isaiah Thomas that I intend to post this weekend. So, we might want to leave him out of the official game.

As of right now, I'm thinking that we keep the rosters as they stand, with the additions of Hayes/Singleton in the West, and Allen/Samb in the East.

I'm still not entirely sold on that 12th spot in the East. What about Gabe Pruitt?

The important thing is that I can now do the game.

Let's solidify these rosters.

Official Rosters?

I have...

East:
Joel Anthony
Yakhouba Diawara
Chris Douglas-Roberts
Othello Hunter
Darnell Jackson
Nathan Jawai
Tarrence Kinsey
Patrick O'Bryant
Jake Voskuhl
Mario West

West:
Greg Buckner
Brian Cardinal
Jason Collins
Jarron Collins
Jared Dudley
DeAndre Jordan
Jermereo Davidson
Anthony Morrow
Sun Yue
Sonny Weems

And, Cheikh Samb as a floater because this list was made right when he was being traded from East to West.

So... are there new entries or changes or that should be made now that we're a few months and half of a season past the making of these two rosters? I know some people have been traded or sent to the D-league. What do you think? I actually need 12 on each roster.

Too Depressed to Rent a Box

I just can't bring myself to rent one. I'm supposed to have one. I actually own two of them. Tomorrow (as I post this) I will try to borrow my neighbor's again. He actually mentioned yesterday that he accomplished whatever it was he had brought it back to his house to do.

In the meantime, I checked out that E74 report on Yahoo. I went to email Xbox about whether or not that applied to E71 or E79 (and if any of that even mattered for the Box-parts I bought off some guy on Ebay). However, despite their comment field having a very obvious character-counter that actually would not allow me to type more than 1000 characters into the field, my email submission was denied because the comment was more than 500 characters. So, in true Bluntana fashion, I asked them why they're so incompetent and then threatened to buy a Playstation (instead of accomplishing anything useful).

But, I digress (always and forever)...

The main point is: I'm too proud to rent something that I already own; and, more importantly, I'm the type who puts so much effort into being lazy that it makes the avoided action seem like a nap. You know, like, for example, when you don't want to get up for the remote, so you try to fashion a poking tool out of the nearest long-thing you can grab from your chair, then stretch as far as you can and spend twenty minutes groaning over a stupid idea that ends with you just getting up and changing the channel (but forgetting to grab the remote while you're up so it happens all over again). Or, similarly, when you could've just returned your Xbox to Target four years ago when it started the Red Ring of Death straight out the box... yeah. I'm not proud of myself (but, I'm still too proud to rent... okay, too depressed to rent).

And, now, assuming that I will get my hands on my neighbor's box tomorrow, the official rosters are...
...written down at home (yes, I prefer to do these blog things at work because otherwise I could be staring at a wall for up to 4 hours at a time).

But, I know, for sure:

Jake Voskuhl
Mario West
Tarrence Kinsey
Joel Anthony
Yakouba Diawahra
Nathan Jawai
Darnell Jackson
Chris Douglas-Roberts

Cheikh Samb

Anthony Morrow
What's His Name Dudley (Suns... Dudley, right? The one that looks like he should be in a bad rapper's entourage... with the grossest braids I've ever seen... you know who I'm talking about).
Sonny Weems
The Collins Twins

Okay, memory's failing. Help me out here. Or, more likely, I'll find the rosters when I get home and end up posting them before you even read this.

And, finally, I hope you and Dan B learned your lessons: never encourage the blunted version of Scarface until he's actually finished the task at hand (though I do appreciate the support in these trying times).

one month later...

Yes. It has been one month since the last time I teased the world with an All-Lacktion Game. I cannot believe that's all. I feel like I've been absent for many, many months. Anyway, here's the official update:

The ol' XBOX 360 started telling me that if I wanted to play my XBOX 360 game, I needed to put it in an XBOX 360 console. I kept telling it that it is an XBOX 360 console. It didn't care.

So, I brought it to this guy I kinda knew who fixes and customizes the things. I figured I'd take the opportunity to replace the fuzzy Wu-Tang sticker I'd put on the Box with a full-on Wu-Tang Killa Beez Box. I commissioned the fellow to fix the problem and pimp the Box.

After diagnosing the problem, he told me that I would need a whole new motherboard and DVD drive. I found one on Ebay that was - in fact - an upgrade from my original motherboard (HD, baby!). It was only $150 plus shipping. It didn't work. I blew my chance to return it because I was trying to find a solution to its problem. Turns out - as you may discover - that no one has an answer for the E71 or E79 error codes (which are what my "new" XBOX was encountering).

I contacted the guy who sold me the faulty guts, and he said that it needed to be returned to Microsoft (but, that I had to mail it to him to mail to Microsoft). I called Microsoft and the guy on the other end said that, because both Boxes had been opened, Microsoft would not fix either of them for me - no matter what. Funny, because I know people who have had Microsoft fix opened Boxes before.

So, the story continues from the premise that I have two broken XBOX 360 motherboards and one super sweet, black and yellow, Wu-Tang outer case. And, that the guy who was working on it was about to leave for a week or two to paint a mural at some rich fella's house. The exciting aspect of the fixer's trip was that this rich fella had a bunch of Boxes; and, that my fixer could probably buy the guts from one of them and replace mine with those that worked.

The less than exciting aspect of the fixer's trip is that he disappeared.

Here's where it gets fun.

The whole time I knew this guy, I contacted him by calling his friend with the cell phone. They lived together and I would go over to their place to hang out and chat video games. After the guy left town, I couldn't get in touch with him anymore. I would go over to the house and ask his friend about status updates; but, I started getting updates like, "I don't know when he's coming back... I think he's doing some unsavory things down there, like staying up all night."

Then, he came back for one day. The only thing I could get out of his friend regarding the status of my Box was, "I don't really know what he's doing. He wasn't too clear about anything." And, all parts of my Box went away with the fixer this time around. So...

I start to wonder about the situation. I go over to the friend's place and somehow this comes up, "Oh. No. This is my place. I let people crash here all the time. But, that guy doesn't live here."

Anyone else a little sketched out about the whole thing? Yeah. Me, too.

Anyway, I asked the friend if he thinks I'll ever see my XBOX again. He said, "Yes."

Honestly, I'm not so sure.

In the meantime, my neighbor left his Box at my place for a few days. It happened to be the few days I was discovering how much fun you can have with Fallout 3; so, I did nothing lacktackularly productive (speclackularly?)

I still think about it everyday. I don't know when I will get to do it, though.

perfect

Oh, man! Amazing. So...

it's a good thing Chris vetoed Robin Lopez' nomination for All-Lacktion.

I had created two proto-teams right before running the suggested rosters past our above mentioned mentor-in-lacktion. I set-up an exhibition game between those teams. The purpose of this was to get pictures of the logos to determine if we should go that route. The outcome was to watch Robin Lopez take the tip, then knock down a perfect swish from way the hell out here...

Anyway, check out the logos and understand where the names came from:

Note the overall ratings. Granted, altered rosters; but...

This is what the jerseys will look like (it's on the home court of the team representing the West):

"Broadcast" angle. Booing fans.

"2k" angle.

Should we use one of the early era All-Star courts? This is what the 70s looks like:

The difference being the colors and the midcourt logo, I guess.

I do like the 'legends' part.

I just remembered that the streetball option doesn't record stats. That means, it has to be a special bonus event for anyone who really wants it.

What else?

I will not let you down!

Hey everybody (and, by "everybody" I mean, "chris") thanks for keeping me updated. I've been reading Basketbawful; but, it's always a few days late (so I just stay quiet). I am so excited about Cheikh Samb being on the Knicks.

However, here are the limitations I've discovered with NBA 2k9:

I can do an exhibition game between the two All-Star teams; but, you can't adjust their rosters.

I might be able to adjust the rosters of some of the All-Star teams from earlier eras (50s/60s, 70s, 80s or 90s) to still get the All-Star Weekend feel of the arena and uniforms and so forth.

Or, I can create two teams for which I set the rosters. I can set them up however we want; but, they'll have non-descript uniforms that may not even have logos or team names on them. I actually like that aspect of it. They're lacktioneers, they would probably have to order their own jerseys from Eastbay, anyway - and, pay out of their own pockets. Also, because the 2k9 Create-A-Team logo options are so limited, I've already named the two teams "Positive Stat Erasers" and "Let's Go Bowling."

Another option is the 5 on 5 streetball game that would not even be in the arena.

Also, very disappointing, the only way to do a dunk contest or three point contest is to do it in streetball (or set up a whole season and wait until the All-Star Break, therefore NOT guaranteeing who's in it). I really wanted to do a re-make of the dunk contest and/or a three-point showdown between Antoine Walker and Antoine Walker. I still intend to get a special Toine-Toine three-point show; but, it won't be as exciting. And, I can't seem to duplicate players for the streetball contest. I'm thinking of doing a season where every player is an Antoine Walker clone. Then, the All-Star break will be All-Toine. Oh, man, I just thought of that... I'm doing THAT as soon as I get home from work. I hope I can!!!

Anyway, I'm thinking, create two teams and pit them against each other in an exhibition match. I'm going to do one game where everybody plays as originally rated; and, one where they're all edited to the lowest overall skill rating (here's hoping for '00'); and, I can't wait to see how the two compare.

You're right about the widescreen format on YouTube. It is significantly better. I'll post it on YouTube. I definitely want it to be a 48 minute game, which automatically makes each quarter too long for YouTube posting. To get around the 10 minute time allowance, I guess, I can do, like, "1st Quarter (parts I & II)," etc.

Otherwise, since I am currently learning html (though not that well, as revealed by my earlier attempt to link to myself in 'bawful comments), I will look into the details of posting video on my own website. Then, I will make a website for those videos.

I'll post the updates here; so, keep being my one and only reader.

lowlights on youtube

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwvaDCJScy8

or, youtube version

I think it actually looks worse on youtube. I gotta mess around with my laptop. I think it came with windows media center which I think can communicate with my xbox. I just have to do some research. In the meantime, I'll try a three point contest or something without the glare and see if it looks any better.

Oh yeah, and I don't have audio for that one because I had music on while it was recording. I just dropped the audio 'cause it's irrelevant. I'll make sure to have it for the real thing, though. I'm wondering if the videogame audience will resort to booing. I hope so.
